Volunteer Opportunities

We have a variety of roles to suit different interests, skills, and availability:

Conservation Volunteers

Help with practical conservation tasks:

  • Litter picking and path maintenance
  • Tree planting and woodland management
  • Pond and wetland conservation
  • Habitat creation for wildlife
  • Invasive species control

Time commitment: Flexible, from 2 hours per month

Event Volunteers

Support our community events:

  • Setting up and clearing down events
  • Welcoming visitors and providing information
  • Assisting with activities and workshops
  • Health and safety monitoring
  • Photography and social media

Time commitment: Event-based, usually 3-4 hours per event

Friends of the Green

Join our informal supporter network:

  • Regular updates about Green activities
  • Opportunity to attend volunteer days
  • Invitations to special events
  • Fundraising and awareness raising
  • Providing feedback and ideas

Time commitment: As little or as much as you like

Skill-Based Volunteers

Important Information

Age requirements: Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers aged 16-18 require parental consent.

Accessibility: We welcome volunteers of all abilities. Please let us know about any access requirements.

Expenses: We may be able to reimburse reasonable travel expenses for regular volunteers.

Current Volunteer Activities

Regular Volunteer Days

We hold regular volunteer work days on the first Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm. These sessions focus on practical conservation tasks and are a great way to get involved.

Next volunteer day: First Saturday of each month

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Meeting point: Main entrance on Halstead Road

What to bring: Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, water. Tools and gloves provided.

No need to book - just turn up! All welcome.
